Bio
Ian is a Scottish Director of Photography based in London, working across film, television and commercials throughout the UK and internationally.
His recent credits include SHETLAND S11 (BBC/ITV Studios), INTO THE DEEP (Sky Cinema), THE SEVERED SUN (DarkSky/Grasp The Nettle), and second-unit cinematography on FIFTEEN LOVE (Amazon/World Productions) and HEARTSTOPPER Seasons 2 & 3 (Netflix/See-Saw Films).
His work spans drama, genre and independent film, with a particular interest in character-led storytelling and visually distinctive worlds. His short-film credits include the BAFTA and BIFA award-winning EDMOND, and the folk-horror THE SERMON, which premiered at BFI Flare and screened at festivals including Palm Springs, HollyShorts and Sitges.
Ian was nominated as a BSC Emerging Cinematographer in 2015 and holds a Master’s degree in Cinematography from the National Film and Television School, supported by a BAFTA Scholarship. He also holds a First-Class BA (Hons) from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design.
